The Orion solution provides a unique solution based on an open standards platform to access business and operational dashboards for optimisation, automation and analytics within the business.

These dashboards are not only based on internal data sources including DMR two-way radio, GPS location services and network diagnostics but external sources of relevant transport information to enable informed, sound business decisions based on live data sources displayed to the business unit owner, management and operations.

Orion Radar is based on the Elasticsearch & Radar Applications layers
Elasticsearch is an open-source, enterprise-grade search engine which can power extremely fast searches that support all data discovery applications.

With Elasticsearch we can store, search, and analyse big volumes of data quickly and in near real time. Elasticsearch is a database that stores, retrieves, and manages document-oriented and semi-structured data and is used as the underlying search engine that powers applications that have simple/complex search features and requirements.

By combining Elasticsearch with Orion Radar, an open source analytics and visualization platform, we can search, view, and interact with data stored in Elasticsearch indices. This application layer provides users the ability to easily perform advanced data analysis and visualise our data in a variety of charts, tables, and maps.

Efficient and scalable, the Elasticsearch is a distributed system by nature and can easily scale horizontally, providing the ability to extend resources and balance the loading between the nodes in a cluster.

The key advantage is that Elasticsearch is API-driven, so actions can be performed using a simple RESTful API.

Multi-tenancy, ease of scalability, relevancy of results, aggregations queries, and being open source are the key enablers for incorporating Elasticsearch into the Transdev business.
